Prohibition

About us

Prohibition is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. A neighborhood icon since 1996, the venue transports guests into the new “Roaring 20’s” on arrival. Eat, drink and be merry in the main supper club room with live music, or tuck away in the more intimate speakeasy room in the back behind the big red door. Chef Alberto Gomez’s New American menu incorporates global flavors into signature dishes including Tuna Poke Crisps, Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, Lollipop Lamb Chops, Crackling Pork Shank, Wild Mushroom Gnocchi and to end your meal with a fresh baked “Pro” Pie for Two.

Our extensive cocktail program features original craft cocktails such as "Smash & Grab" and "Packing Heat" in addition to our takes on classics like "Bootlegger Old Fashioned," "Hemingway Daiquiri" and "The Real McCoy." Each is served in the finest glassware with just the right variety of ice to provide a perfectly balanced drink.

During our 26 years of existence, we've hosted live music nightly showcasing a vast variety of talent. Prohibition has proudly helped kick off the careers of Gavin Degraw and Rachel Platten and has been the home base for the incomparable Joe Scarborough and his Independent Counsel of Funk band. You also never know who may be in the house for a surprise, impromptu performance... like Chaka Khan.
