Total Request Tuesdays w/ Skeedle Bros

The Skeedle Brothers are a Bayside, NY based acoustic band consisting of Mike Skeedle, Joey Regalbuto, and Sean Dolan. They know thousands of songs, and sing incredible harmonies. Their show consists of mostly audience requests, so it's never the same show twice! The Skeedle Brothers are available for weddings, private parties, and corporate events.

Doyle Brothers

When you combine the timeless classics of the Everly Brothers with the modern swagger of Michael Buble and Bruno Mars, you’ve just experienced “The Doyle Brothers.” Ryan (Vox/Axe) and Todd (Box/Vox) followed up their 2010 Hard Rock Battle of the Bands win, with the release of their first album, “2Bros – 1 Box.” Winning the Global competition gave the Bros. a rare opportunity to open for Paul McCartney, in London’s Hyde Park. With a strong reception to the first EP, the guys collaborated in the fashion of Jamie Cullum and Michael Buble to release a hybrid Original/Cover LP entitled, “Take Two.” This album features classics such as Run Around Sue, Earth Angel and their original, award winning smash hit, “Mama Said.” Currently the Doyles are recording in NYC and can be found playing great clubs across Manhattan. Check them out…

The Funk Machine

The Funk Machine is a band of soul torchbearers, carrying on the legacy from the legends of Motown and classic R&B. Founded in 2006 as the Rhythm and Blues ensemble at New York University, the group has gone on to perform and record with some of the largest names in soul including the Four Tops, Funk Brothers, Dennis Coffey, James Jamerson Jr, and more.

Color Me Blind*

Dominic & CMB has vast performance experience in the Big Apple, performing at prestigious venues including LaGuardia Plaza Hotel, the St. Regis, Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, The Plaza, NY Palace and many more. With the ability to adapt to different locations, environments and themed events, Dominic & CMB is the obvious band choice when it comes to making sure you have the right band for your event. No party is too small (or too large), and Dominic & CMB is available to travel outside of the NYC area.

The Gilfords*

The Gilfords are one of New York's premiere rock cover bands. The majority of The Gilfords repertoire is 80s music (rock and pop), but the band also plays everything from the 60s through modern rock of today. During the past 10+ years The Gilfords have evolved into the New York City area's premier 80s rock cover band performing songs by artists such as AC/DC, A-Ha, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Guns 'n' Roses, Journey, Naked Eyes, Pat Benatar, The Outfield, U2 and Van Halen among others. If you're looking for a party, The Gilfords are the band for you. The band performs regularly at bars/clubs in the New York City area and for private and corporate events including weddings throughout the country.

Alex Vans' Bad Business

Alex Vans had a really, really terrible idea for a business. He got a bunch of dudes, gave them instruments, and made them play stoner rock guitar riffs under smooth vocal pop hooks. He then had the shitty idea to record those sounds onto obsolete physical records and drive around the country in a van trying to sell the records in beer soaked taverns in front of surly bartenders. It was a truly horrible idea. And predictably, he failed miserably. If the definition of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, then you can count Alex Vans as among the truly mad. A mad-genius perhaps? No. But the new EP does kick ass.

Why? Because Alex and his new band, Bad Business, got back up, licked their wounds, and made a fundamental change. They realized that if you want to make the kind of top 40 music that lets you retire at 35, you can’t write from your heart. You gotta stick to the formula. You have to follow the data. “You think Meghan Trainor makes all that sweet, sweet coin because she’s singing about her feelings?” Vans remarked in a recent interview. “No, she’s got a team of analysts in Korea crunching algorithms faster than Hillary Clinton cashes checks from Goldman Sachs.” In that defiant spirit, they ditched their flannel shirts and skinny jeans in favor of power suits and suspenders. They dropped their guitars and picked up their expo markers and whiteboards. Then they realized how not fun that is, grabbed their guitars again, ditched the formula, and cranked out the most righteously rocking EP of 2016. “Buy American: Vol. 1” is the result of this truly revolutionary paradigm shift.

Sure, it’s all a bit tongue-in-cheek, but that doesn’t cheapen the bite of songs like “Velocirapture (Clever Girl Version),” which barrels ahead with all the speed and ferocity of a of a T-Rex chasing down Jeff Goldblum, and “Break My Spell,” where Vans screams his frustration in a raw, ragged howl. Recorded over the course of a year in D.C. and Brooklyn, the self-produced Buy American: Vol. 1 nods to stoner-rock influences like Queens of the Stone Age and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Andy Valenti, Mike Douaire, Erik Estrada, John Daise, and Adam Ashforth all pitched in, creating an EP of pure, punchy rock & roll that never takes itself too seriously. Rest assured: fans of past Alex Vans albums like DJ Booth will still find plenty of familiar appeal here, from Vans’ melodic instincts to his work as an explosive lead guitarist. If those past albums were failed businesses, though, then Buy American is something new: bright, bold, and ready for the boardroom.

James Gedeon

Upon arriving in New York as a graduate student in the late 1980s, James Gedeon immediately began honing his craft in the Greenwich Village music scene in storied venues like The Village Gate, The Back Fence and The Red Lion. By the mid 90s, James had developed a reputation as a singer and songwriter able to make even individuals in the farthest reaches of a venue feel as though they were right up front.

James has since performed at New York's famed LeCirque; The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center and The Waldorf Astoria Grand Ballroom where he was part of the opening band for Dan Aykroyd and the Blues Brothers at The Alzheimer's Foundation annual fundraiser. He has also been able to take his music to areas outside of New York, having performed in Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian; The Harvard Club in Boston; in West Virginia at the renowned Greenbrier Resort; the Rocky Mountain resort of Flathead Lake in Kalispell, Montana; Mauna Kea Resort in Kailua Kona, Hawaii; The Ocean Club (twice) on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, and he even performed for the King and Queen at the Royal Palace in Morocco.

James has also taken the stage at Pebble Beach Golf Club in California with New York's acclaimed Stingers Band (a gig that had James providing an acoustic opening set for comedian Jerry Seinfeld's performance to an audience that included Clint Eastwood). In addition, he's opened for America, The Marshall Tucker Band, Jay Leno, Dana Carvey and Livingston Taylor. He has also performed with guitarists Oz Noy and Bernie Williams, drummers Dave Weckl and Steve Holley, sax man Mark Rivera (Billy Joel, Ringo Starr, Foreigner) and shared the stage at a private event in Vermont with Harry Connick, Jr.

James also performed at the wedding of radio personality Howard Stern. During the ceremony, James accompanied Dixie Chick Natalie Maines on the couple's wedding song, and followed that up by performing 3 duets with music icon Billy Joel. Later that same night, as a member of the house band, James backed up Phoebe Snow in addition to Pat Monahan of Train on the band's hits "Calling All Angels" and "Drops of Jupiter".

In 2016, James appeared as a finalist and was chosen as the winner of the 19 and over category in "Morristown OnStage" at the Mayo Performing Arts Center for his rendition of James Taylor's "Shower The People" in front of a packed house of 1,300 people. That performance led to Gedeon opening for the iconic band "America" at an April 2016 concert at a sold-out MPAC in Morristown, a show at which James received rave reviews from the audience, and from America.

Currently in the studio recording new material for his upcoming album and in rehearsals for his James Taylor tribute show, Gedeon continues to pursue his music with the same passion that drove him during his early performances in Greenwhich Village more than 25 years ago.

Some of James' most notable music clients have included ESPN Radio, Life Project For Africa, CNN, WPLJ, 77WABC in New York and The New York Jets.

Blow Up Hollywood

Blow Up Hollywood is an underground American rock band. Their eclectic sound, built over a decade of recording, incorporates many different styles, diverse as progressive rock, post-rock, experimental, pop, classical, jazz and ambient soundscapes. Founded by Steve Messina and Nik Chinboukas in 2001, the group has evolved into more of a collective than a band, as some of their members have changed over the years.

Their debut, self-titled CD, is a concept album about death and the afterlife. The CD was recorded in a beach house in West Hampton, New York, over the course of three weeks in March 2001, and was released the following year. Originally the recording was intended to be just a “musical vacation” amongst friends who had performed and recorded together in various groups and projects throughout the years. But after hearing the results, and enjoying the collaboration, they decided to release it, with Blow Up Hollywood as their moniker.

Their sophomore CD, Fake, was released in 2004, and garnished critical acclaim.

In September 2004, John Diliberto, the host of the radio show Echoes, ran a feature on the band and had them perform live on air, bringing them national attention. That same year their live version of the song “beyond the stars” was included on the Echo’s compilation CD, alongside artists Yo-Yo Ma, Kai King, and Will Ackerman.

Stars End – A one track ambient improvisation, was recorded live on November 14, 2004, at WXPN in Philadelphia. The CD is titled after Chuck Van Zyl’s show Star’s End which has aired every Saturday night since 1976. “We asked Chuck what we should play, and he gave us free reign. So we improvised for an hour”, one of the band members stated.

In 2006 the band released what would become their most popular CD, both nationally and internationally. With the debate over the war in Iraq raging, the band released another concept album, The Diaries of Private Henry Hill. Based on the journal entries of a young, deceased soldier from the Iraq war, Blow Up Hollywood takes us on Private Henry Hill’s surreal journey as he joins the army out of necessity rather than patriotism.

That same year the album was released, Amy Goodman, the host of the news show Democracy Now! (a daily TV/radio news program, airing on over 900 stations, pioneering the largest community media collaboration in the United States) championed the band and the video for the song WMD, playing it repeatedly on her show for weeks.

Rachael Maddow, the then host of The Rachael Maddow show on Air America Radio, also invited the band to perform live and discuss the CD. And many other songs from the Diaries record were featured on NPR‘s program All Things Considered.

In 2008, the band was invited by Tomas Young (an injured American soldier from the Iraq war ) and Eddie Vedder (the lead vocalist of the American rock band Pearl Jam) to have WMD included on the compilation soundtrack to the documentary film Body of War, alongside Bruce SpringsteenNeil YoungTori AmosTom WaitsRoger Waters (founding member of Pink Floyd), and Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam.

In 2011 Steve Messina, Nik Chinboukas and Thad Debrock joined forces to write, produce, and record with photographer and conceptual artist Andres Serrano, with Blow Up Hollywood as his backing band. They released the recording under the name Brutus Faust.

Charles Ramsey

Charles Ramsey is a New York City-based singer/songwriter.  He released his third CD, Love Don’t Need to Feel So Foreign in 2012.  Like his earlier work, this five song EP showcases Ramsey’s keen melodic sense, while the band-driven arrangements give an edge to these finely crafted pop songs.

Charles Ramsey’s previous album, Good Morning & Good Night, was released in 2009 to international acclaim. Drawing comparisons to Burt Bacharach, Rufus Wainwright, Ben Folds, Morrissey, and The Divine Comedy, the album was described as “one of the best releases of 2009” by the Brazil-based music site, Paralelo Pop, and ranked in the top 50 of Absolute Powerpop’s Top 100 Albums of 2009.

Since moving from Philadelphia to New York City in 2011, Charles Ramsey has been making a name for himself in some of the most prestigious singer/songwriter venues throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. Following several performances at the Brooklyn-based “Resonance” showcase, JezebelMusic.com described Ramsey as “one of the finest songsters to perform at Resonance to date.” His music has received airplay in the US and in the UK on stations such as WXPN in Philadelphia, WSTW in Wilmington, and Salford City Radio in Salford, England.

Charles Ramsey’s music is available internationally on iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby, Bandcamp, and other sites.

Paul Tabachneck

My name is Paul Tabachneck (Tah-BăSH-nick).  I’ve been around since September of 1974, and I take up about 1.05 humans’ worth of space, give or take.  I’m running lately, to try to get it down to 1 even.  I’m pretty tall and built wide, so I can only do so much.

I’ve done stuff!  My catalog of releases so far includes 3 Album-A-Days, 5 EPs, and 7 full-length albums, spread out from 1996 to today. End-to-end, I’ve written about 200 songs or so, although I think the most of them I’ve liked at the same time is about 40. I’ve led a few bands, by names of ManPig, Everybody Wins, The Awkward Situation, Dead Pressed Flowers, and Stone Soup.

I do stuff!  I write songs, busk, play music shows, develop websites, do the occasional improv thing, act in friends’ comedy film thingies, and record.  I’ve scored web segments for marlothomas.com, as well as HuffPo Women.  I’ve just finished my new album, Two People Made This Mess, coproduced with Brandon Wilde.  I’m very proud of it, and hope you’ll add it to your collection!

I’m a misophone, and hope to bring more awareness about this condition, any way I can.

I live in New York City, and grew up in Pittsburgh and various cities in Michigan.  I can be found at a Steelers bar for every game.

YBM

Raised in a musical family that helped to shape and cultivate his talent, Newark, New Jersey’s 21-year old Victor DaZe’s talent was evident early on—singing and dancing from as early as the 3rd grade. Victor adds, “I’m the youngest of 6 siblings, and they all have supported me in their own ways—always giving me great advice. My mom sang opera when I was growing up, so music has always been around me—from Pop/R&B, to Hip-hop, Soul, Classical, Rock and Jazz. I get new ideas and inspiration from a little bit of every musical style that’s out there.” Victor DaZe is also a musician and songwriter.

Growing up, Victor DaZe was strongly influenced by legendary artists Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Michael Jackson, and Prince. Today, he is impacted by the music of Usher, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Miguel, and Chris Brown. Victor’s own sound has been described as a blend of Pop and R&B, with a little taste of Funk. His vocal sound makes his music feel unique and distinctively all its own. This kid also has a great look, is a trained dancer, models, and also has experience acting. Make no mistake — Victor DaZe is the total package.

A graduate of The New Jersey Performing Arts Center Scholarship Program, Victor DaZe has not only been a student of singing—currently being trained by Troy Randall (Patti LaBelle, Wyclef Jean, TLC0.He’s worked with Nat Adderly Jr. (Musical Director for Luther Vandross). Victor has been in multiple theatrical performances.  He recently acted and sang in Black Nativity at Crossroads Theatre, Directed by Lee Trusdale and Obediah Wright. Some of his past works include the role of “Judas” in Jesus Christ Superstar, “Miss Roj” in The Colored Museum, and Laertes in Hamlet. Victor studied acting with celebrity acting coach John Pallotta and Wendy McKenzie. He’s also trained in many dance styles, taught by Alfred Gallman, Obediah Wright and Jay Skeete Lee.

In addition to pursuing his love of the arts, Victor was awarded The Governor's Award for Music, The Music Award from The New Jersey Board of Freeholders, and was a finalist in The New Jersey “Shout Down Drugs” televised competition. One of Victor’s performance highlights was being able to sing and perform in Italy, performing as a soloist and also with a full choir everyday for 20 days. As a member of the Rutgers choir he traveled and sang in Germany. He studies Music and Theatre at Rutgers University. His film credits include the tv shows, NBC’s , "The Mysteries of Laura," Investigation Discoveries, “The Perfect Murder” the TV Pilot, “The Internet Ruined My Life” and has done a children's indie film, "The Bird Who Couldn't Fly." He can also be seen in the film shorts, “Breathe Please” as Zeph and “Backstage” as Dominic.

With Victor’s unmistakable blend of Pop-driven, Hip-hop, and R&B—it goes without saying that anticipation for a new music release from this one-of-a-kind talent has been running high. DaZe delivers beyond expectations on “Movin On” — a vibrant, musically diverse song that sets a Rock-layered Lenny Kravitz feel guitar riff with an anthem-styled Soulful, Pop melody. DaZe also shines on “I Apologize” — a Pop/Hip-Hop, vocal-rich driven song that is well produced, and has a memorable hook with a head-nodding beat. Both songs are soon to be released as singles with the help of his producers of Royal Heat Entertainment.

Stay on the lookout for this young new rising star, as songs are being released, along with the launch of his YouTube channel. Victor is also preparing an exciting show to support and promote his new releases, so you’ll be able to catch him live in concerts, and also on the web performing. In closing, Victor adds, “I’ve been working hard, not just for myself, but I really want this and hope my fans appreciate my music, my acting… all of me. I want people to hear my music and feel good; help them get over or out of that relationship, or give them hope. I want my music to be an experience—a good one.”

Alex Miller

Miller’s voice projects something smooth and refreshing. His sound, deep and unique, stretches across a variety of instrumental influences from Phish to Queens of the Stone Age to John Mayer. He came out with this first CD, “Off Season,” at 18, to a crowd of summer acquaintances in 2004. A growing audience encouraged him to invest in a major recording “Just a Dream” released in August 2010. Overwhelmed by the success of his CD release at New York City’s Canal Room, Miller spent months self-booking and self-promoting a successful nationwide summer tour in 2011. As his foot was out the door for that tour in May 2011, a group of investors agreed to support his working on a third CD, titled “Chin Up, Buckle Down, and Let Go.” The songs on this CD chronicle a generic journey across the nation as well as specific events that occurred at stops along the way. “Chin Up, Buckle Down, and Let Go” will release in May 2012. Miller says: “As much fun as it is to be a singer/songwriter, I still prefer the energy of a crowd.” Since moving to New York in 2009, he has played at a number of venues including (le) Poisson Rouge, The Canal Room, The Knitting Factory, Rockwood Music Hall, The Living Room, The Bitter End, National Underground, and his regular spot–Prohibition. Miller relishes in gaining a fan base and getting his songs heard “the old fashion way”– by performing them.

Joeys first production credits came from co-producing 4(four) songs for Academy Award Nominee Danny Aiello on his album “Bridges”. “It was an incredible honor to work with Danny Aiello” says Joey, “One of the things I learned was how to sell a song with acting rather then just singing. Joey has also worked on promotional mix tapes distributing over 2 million copy’s world wide. Layla Davias
Layla Davias’s voice gives a whole new meaning to the expression “sing your heart out.” The emotion and passion she delivers behind each word may have changed the landscape of the Mona Lisa if Leonardo Davinci heard her in the 1500’s. She has the power and soulfulness that demands your attention for every interval of the performance.

Layla is no stranger to the television spotlight where she graced the Hollywood Stage in American Idol Season 2 and reached the semifinals in the most recent season of Star Search. In her time working with MBK Management, she performed several showcases at Nema’s Boom Boom Room in NYC, as well as “Live From Oz” with Jeff Robinson (Alicia Keys, Elle Varner, K. Michelle). Layla has teamed up with producer/guitarist/musical director Frank Portalatin (guitarist for C&C Music Factory, Maxi Priest, Annie Lennox, Stephanie Mills, Seal, Jamie Lynn Sigler, Shannon, LMNT, Luke, Safire, and many others). Frank has been working with Layla to enhance her dynamic vocal range, as well as developing songs threaded by prodigious melody and soulful lyrics.

There are many artists that come and go from year-to-year, or even in today’s world day-to-day. This is not production hyperbolized by glitz and glamour or auto-tune and backup dancers. This is however, a magnification of the one thing any audience can be captivated by: talent. Layla has the most important ingredient that can span through any generation of listeners now and for … well, ladies and gentlemen here is Layla Davias.
